Know About Sam Congdon College Life

While in college sam congdon was exposed for the first time to Austrian economics. Austrian economics is unabashedly free-market, limited government, and pro-entrepreneurial endeavors. It champions the rights of individuals, the right of property and the right to contract. As such it presents a direct challenge to interventionist, big government economics which is typically associated with the Keynesian school of thought. I had an incredible time in college and learned an amazing amount about economics and common sense political principles. I consider it to be “raw” economic principles as opposed to the muddied and nonsensical ideas they get thrown around in the mainstream media about economics, the role of government and personal freedom, or lack thereof.

During my freshman year of college I was interviewed by representatives from a company called Student Works Painting. This is a company that originated in Canada and it trains college students to run a painting business for the summer. Painting is actually a perfect job for college students in the Midwest. In the Midwest there is a clear difference of seasons and temperatures. Most of the year is cold but the spring and summer months are warm or hot and outdoor painting, which is what we did the most of, is possible. But then come September, when students go back to college, it becomes too cold to pain outdoors. So the “season” for painting corresponds perfectly with the college summer break from May through August. As I’ve mentioned before I grew up on Orchard and learned at a very young age how to work hard. This skill came in very handy when I took a job for Student Works Painting. Sam congdon was assigned the city of Battle Creek, Michigan which is the closest large city to Hillsdale Michigan, where I was a student. As you may be aware, Battle Creek Michigan is the home of Kellogg’s the large food company that is most well-known for Kellogg’s corn flakes.

Being a city manager for Student Works Painting is not a casual endeavor. It requires an enormous amount of time, and effort. In the spring months, while the student is still in school, he must travel to the city he is managing in, market using flyers and signs and then give estimates and secure contracts for the summer. He must also higher and train the people who work for him. I actually had to three groups of three painters each that worked on various job sites. So to hire such individuals one must put advertisements in local papers conduct interviews over the phone and in person, etc. So while the student is still in school there is a significant amount of work to be done getting everything lined up for the summer.
